Dakota Ray Hebert

Host & Workshop Facilitator

Dakota Ray Hebert is an entertainer and workshop facilitator who was born and raised in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan.  Dakota has performed as an actor and comedian across Canada, the United States, La Penita Mexico, and even Shenzhen China!  When she’s not writing, telling funny stories, or acting her heart out, she’s cuddling up to her loving partner Dylan Jay, their baby Frankie, and their two sweetie pooches Mr Bean and Lieutenant Dan.

Some career highlights include co-hosting CRAZY LIKE A LYNX alongside Don Kelly on APTN. A feature-length movie she lead, RUN WOMAN RUN, made its world premiere this year; from it, she won Best Actress at the American Indian Film Festival. You’ll also be able to view her on CTV’s new television show SHELVED, in which she plays one of the four leads.

Dakota will be seen on CBC’s COMEDY NIGHT WITH RICK MERCER this fall. Her debut comedy album I’LL GIVE YOU AN INDIAN ACT will be available for purchase November 2022, and she is currently working on her second, of which she’ll deliver a sneak peek for her appearance at JUST FOR LAUGHS TORONTO this September.

Annie Brass

Annie Brass has always been gifted at telling humorous stories and making light of life’s daily challenges. It is through this talent that she has been able to channel her energy to Stand-Up Comedy. Annie’s unique style along with upbeat and zany antics keeps her audiences howling with laughter. Annie has performed at wellness conferences, community gatherings and fundraising events where her humor and style made lasting impressions. 

Annie’s most notable performances include the 2005 Healing Out Spirits World Wellness Conference in Edmonton and her 2008 national television appearance on the CBC Reality TV Special, The Last Bannock Standing with the Bionic Bannock Boys. In 2019, Annie made CBC’s  National Top 100 Comics List. 


Tenille K Campbell

Tenille K Campbell is a Dene/Metis artist from English River First Nation, currently residing in Saskatoon. She is a poet, photographer, and grad student. She likes iced vanilla lattes, the early emergence of Christmas decor in stores, and ignoring everyone she matches with on Tinder. 


Crystal LaPlante

Crystal LaPlante from Moosomin First Nation, a fresh new comic who originally comes from a little city called North Battleford. You can usually find her representing Indigenous Prairie Lotus on the powwow and jigging trails of Saskatchewan. Married mother of 4, soon to be Kokum, she tells her tales about their dysfunctional family and urban auntie adventures while on the travelling circuit, you can find her wasting away her hard earned business degree taking your hard earned money while sitting back enjoying life on the trails with IPL.


Ezra Forest

Ezra Forest is a two spirit / non binary artist based in Saskatoon, Treaty Six Territory with a background in acting, singing, designing, writing, and directing. They are from Samson Cree Nation and have always wanted to explore their raw funniness.


Andrea Olfert

Drea is a 37 year old, recently single, cougar who started comedy due to the lack of attention she receives at home. When she’s not performing she’s running after one of her 5 kids, 3 dogs, or the latest Uncle. Throughout her past year she’s made many friends, and looks forward to many more years under her belt. 


Cheyenna Sapp

Cheyenna Sapp (she/her) is a Nehiyaw Iskwew (Cree Woman) from Little Pine First Nation, SK. She’s performed standup comedy since 2019, and has appeared in two short films by Shawn Cuthand, two comedy skits for The Feather satirical news website, and has recently wrapped filming a lead role in the new upcoming sitcom “Acting Good” on CTV Comedy. Currently a student at the University of Saskatchewan, Cheyenna will be completing a 4-yr Bachelor of Arts Program in Indigenous Studies along with a one-year wichetowin Indigenous Theatre Certificate Program in the spring of 2023.

Chelazon Leroux

Chelazon Leroux from Canada’s Drag Race is Layten Byhette’s stage name. Chelazon (she/he/they) is a two-Spirit Dene First Nations Multidisciplinary Artist. Chelazon’s artistic pursuits include: Drag, stand-up comedy, and social media content creation. 

Chelazon uses her Indigenous identity— as a status member of Buffalo River Dene Nation (Treaty 10) and family ties to Fond Du Lac First Nation (Treaty 8) —as the foundation for her creative works. Chelazon is best known for her Auntie persona and TikTok posts. Chelazon uses her social media influence to educate and entertain audiences worldwide.

Her goal is to utilize her responsibilities as a Two-Spirit  multimedia artist to bring Two-Spirit’s historical role into the modern world. To educate and entertain audiences worldwide on  the experiences, stories, and beauty of Indigenous identity.

Issa Kixen

Mentor

Issa Kixen is an Anishinaabe Two Spirit comedian/journalist/Producer who is a band member of Couchiching First Nation, Ontario. They have traveled across Canada and the USA as a Comedian and improviser. They use comedy as a tool in dealing with racism, transphobia and ableism. They are the Co-founder/producer of WOKE Comedy Hour, Associate producer at CBC Manitoba, was featured on APTN’s The Laughing Drum, a member of the Bannock Babes drag collective and they are the executive producer for Minogondaagan: the good voice podcast.


Stephanie Pangowish

Mentor

Stephanie Pangowish is one of the deadliest Indigenous Aunties you’ll ever meet. Originally from Wiikwemkoong (Wee-kwem-kung) Unceded Territory on Manitoulin Island, Pangowish now stalks the streets of Toronto, terrorizing the local prudes. Her sexually-loaded (and educational, we swear!) comedy will arouse your mind with insatiable thoughts of copulation and decolonization


Shawn Cuthand

Mentor

Shawn Cuthand is half Cree, half Mohawk, but all deadly. He is part of the satirical news group “The Feather” who have just signed on with APTN for 2022 to produce a webseries for their Lumi streaming service. This past holiday season he acted in the Rez xmas play by Gordon Tootoosis Nikaniwin Theatre and this past summer he also produced a stand up comedy show for the YXE Fringe. He has made appearances at the Winnipeg Fringe, Woke Comedy Hour, Laughter is Medicine in Winnipeg, Comedy Monday Night in Calgary, Trevor’s Pad in YukYuk’s Ottawa and was lucky enough to get drawn out of the bucket on Kill Tony, the #1 live comedy podcast in the world. He spent the pandemic performing at socially distanced fire pit parties and now you can see him alongside Danny Knight as hosts of The Real Deadly podcast on the Comedy Here Often? Network and as cohosts of The Funny Bone Schmomedy Zone open mic at the Fox and Hounds every second Wednesday.
